Treating the Church Family

Show respect: “Do not rebuke an older man, but exhort him as a father, younger men as brothers,"

Maintain purity: Treat older women as mothers and younger women as sisters with all purity.

Caring for Widows

Family responsibility: Children and grandchildren should first show piety at home by caring for their own widowed family members.

Church support: The local church should support "widows indeed"—those who are truly alone and devoted to God in prayer

Provide for your own: “But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.”

Honoring Elders

Support leadership: Elders who lead well, especially those who preach and teach, deserve double honor and fair wages.

Handle accusations fairly: Do not accept an accusation against an elder unless it is backed by two or three witnesses.
