2 Thessalonians 1
* Encouragement in Persecution: Paul commends the Thessalonians' growing faith and steadfast love, despite
ongoing, severe persecution.
* Righteous Judgment: The central theme is that God is just to repay those who afflict believers and to grant
eternal rest to those who are persecuted (2 Thess. 1:6–7).
* The Return of Jesus: Paul describes the imminent return of Jesus from heaven with his angels in flaming fire
to deal with those who do not know God or obey the gospel.
* Glory and Vindication: Jesus will come to be glorified in his saints, and the persecuted church will be
vindicated and rewarded when he is revealed.
* The Goal of Faith: The ultimate purpose of this teaching is for believers to live lives worthy of God's calling,
allowing God to fulfill their faith-driven efforts.
